Gulya and her husband Anzur come from Tajikistan to Moscow for work. A skilled worker Anzur becomes a foreman at the construction site. Gulya works as a cook. The couple is full of bright hopes: they expect a child and are preparing to rent a cozy apartment. But all plans are crossed out by a tragedy. In a fight with a foreman, Anzur is killed. Grief-stricken Gulya finds herself on the street – without money and documents and pregnant.
