There is little joy in Varya’s life; working days are similar to each other, there is no love, and the youth passes by. The girl doesn’t expect things to change; she got used to the fact that she is a dull spinster and love affairs and passions are the lot of her bright girlfriends.
But one day Varya meets Igor, an impressive Muscovite who came to their firm with an audit of the accounting. The girl loses her head and spends the night with him.
Leaving for Moscow, Igor politely invites Varya to come and visit.
He certainly could not imagine that the girl would quit her job and go to the big city for her love.
